Kuwait

Kuwait’s new emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, has appointed his brother and nephew as crown prince and prime minister, giving the senior three posts in the Gulf state to his branch of the ruling family.

Kuwait will deal with Hamas as the legitimate Palestinian representatives when it takes office, Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said Monday.
"Several political blocs, headed by Hamas, were elected in the Palestinian elections. When they officially assume their executive missions, they become the legitimate representatives of the Palestinian people," Sheikh Mohammed was quoted by the Kuwait News Agency as saying.

Kuwaiti Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah renewed his country’s rejection of offending Prophet Mohammad and religious beliefs.
“The Kuwaiti official stance regarding this matter is clear… the Danish government has been directly informed of the Kuwaiti resentment when the Danish Ambassador in Riyadh was summoned,” Sheikh Sabah said in a statement on Monday.
He added that Kuwait is cooperating with other Arab and Islamic countries to seek a resolution by the UN General Assembly that condemns any offense against nations’ beliefs and religions.

Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Monday at Al-Sief Palace several female figures. The Amir praised the Kuwaiti women’s role in the country’s development and the various vital domains along with the Kuwaiti men. He pointed out to the major successes the Kuwaiti women achieved during their occupation of several important leading posts, adding that their success was admired at the local, regional and international levels.
